Dear Members
We start our programme for 2008-9 in earnest with the Inaugural Buffet Supper to be held at
White Gates, Cokes Farm Lane, Chalfont St Giles on Saturday 13 September , 6.30 pm for
7 pm. This is an ideal occasion to catch up with old friends and also introduce any Scots you know who may be interested in joining the Association. The cost per person for the buffet supper and a glass of wine is £8 and it would help if you would let me know no later than 10 September please if you are planning to attend.
Enclosed with this letter are details of
(1) Mahjong Afternoon (not Evening as printed on the programme) on Wednesday
8 October and
(2) Bridge Drive on Thursday, 16 November.
If you don’t play Mahjong or Bridge, perhaps you might like to contribute a small gift towards the raffles which play an important part in these charity events.
Yours sincerely
Dorothy Rae

Many of you will know that Elizabeth Stirling, who organised our Charity Bridge Drive for many years, sadly died in June. We are indebted to Ella Munro who has kindly agreed to run the Bridge Drive this year on Thursday, 20 November in Coleshill Village Hall from 2 pm until 5.30 pm with a break for a traditional Scottish Tea. In the past this has proved to be a very enjoyable afternoon raising a substantial amount of money for our various charities.
This year, by popular request, Chicago Bridge will be played. The cost of each table is £20; the Bridge Club has again very kindly agreed to let us use their card tables, so there is no need to bring your own. However, please bring your own table cloth and playing cards.
Daytime parking outside the hall is very limited. Wherever possible please use one car for every four players and park as carefully as possible in order to cause the least possible inconvenience to the residents of Coleshill.
Each table gets a prize and as it is our main Charity event we would welcome gifts, large or small, for use either as table or raffle prizes. As usual we would also appreciate some help in the kitchen from a few non-playing members.
A lot of time and effort is put into organising this Bridge Drive. You can help enormously by completing the form at the bottom of this letter as soon as possible. Also, please would you give any donated gifts to either Ella (or one of the committee) well in advance of the Bridge Drive, so that she knows how many prizes are still required.
Dorothy Rae
